At JC Impact Ministries, we understand that painkillers are a problem, but not all people in pain turn to illegal drugs for the answers. Some people isolate themselves from other people — believing that they can avoid more pain if they don't get close to anyone. Others take the exact opposite approach, surrounding themselves with unhealthy relationships to try to avoid dealing with the pain and emptiness they feel.

It's also common for people to bury themselves in other things — sports or shopping or other “idols” — keeping busy so they don't have to think about their pain.
